Eswatini records 147 new cases, the highest daily surge yet

Eswatini confirm 1st Woman death of COVID-19

Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi announced 147 new cases which is the highest daily surge yet.

In the daily reports, the Ministry of Health reported that the number of confirmed cases in the country has gone up to 2551, as of July 29. Nkosi reported that this new cases come from the 421 results received on this date.

Nkosi also announced one more new COVID-19 related death of a 68 year old woman from Manzini region. She was admitted at one of the country’s health facilities where she presented severe respiratory symptoms and complications from other pre-existing conditions. She passed away while she was treated as a COVID-19 suspect and results came back confirming COVID-19 diagnosis.

Minister Nkosi also announced an additional of 45 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 1070 and that takes the recovery rate to 41 percent. Nkosi said this means that the number of active cases now stands at 1294.

According to the daily reports by the Ministry, it is notable that Manzini region still stands as the worse-hit region of the country as there are currently 1174 cases recorded from the region. However, Hhohho region has also seen a very significant increase in the number of confirmed as there are now 1013 cases recorded from the Hhohho region. Shiselweni and Lubombo regions have reported 198 and 166 cases respectively.

As of July 29 there were 17 201 277 cases reported globally with 670 454 fatalities and 10 716 271 recoveries. Currently there has been neither cure nor vaccine found for the coronavirus that has plagued the globe.
