Mbabane: The number of COVID-19 related deaths has increased to 23 as two (2) new deaths reported on Monday.
In the daily reports, the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi announced the death of a 56 year old woman and a 40 year old man, both from the Manzini region.
The woman dies at one of the country’s health facilities after falling ill with respiratory symptoms. She was treated as a COVID-19 suspect, but her condition worsened while waiting for her results which on release confirmed the COVID-19 diagnosis. Her condition was unstable and was exacerbated by known co-morbidities.
The 40 year old man also died at one of the country’s facilities after falling sick with severe respiratory symptoms and was also treated as a COVID-19 suspect but his condition deteriorated and he eventually died at the facility before results were released and upon release they confirmed the diagnosis of COVID-19.
On another note, Minister Nkosi announced 33 new confirmed cases and 28 recoveries. The total number of confirmed infections now stands at 1826. According to the Minister’s statement there are currently 920 active cases as a total of 850 cases have been cleared of COVID-19.
