Mbabane: The government through the Ministry of Health will embark on Door to Door Campaign, which will be in contained in a six point plan to halt the spread COVID-19.
This campaign was announced by Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini this afternoon at the cabinet offices when giving update of COVID-19 response in Eswatini. Dlamini said the campaign will start in the Manzini and Hhohho regions and will eventually spread throughout the country. This plan will focus on educating, finding cases, testing, treating, isolating and tracing contacts. Dlamini appealed to nation for high level of cooperation during the implementation of the plan.
Dlamini added that due to the increase of confirmed cases, the government will increase beds at Mavuso Isolation Centre, so to create space for isolation and quarantine. Dlamini added that the government is also exploring other options that will be communicated to the nation in due course.
“As the pandemic continues to accelerate, we can expect to see a gradual increase in cases across the country in the coming days as the Rapid Response Teams intensify contact tracing.” Dlamini said.
Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi further broke down the Ministry’s six point plan that is meant to respond to the spread of COVID-19. Nkosi revealed the places where the door-door campaign will commence from and this places include; Ngwane Park, KaShali, Zakhele, 2sticks, Fairview, Makholweni, William Pitcher, Ticantfwini, Mbikwakhe, Emasundvwini, Phocweni, Kwaluseni, New Village, Mahlabatsini, Ngculwini, and Ntabamhloshana.
Nkosi said ten teams will be deployed for these places and one for the region’s schools. Nkosi said these teams will be identifying and testing all with symptoms related to COVID-19 and these includes fever, cough, headache, dizziness, runny nose, poor appetite, and loss of taste, loss of smell, diarrhoea and vomiting.
