Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has announced that the death toll has increased to 17 as three (3) new deaths on Thursday.
In the daily reports, Nkosi reported the death of two males and one female, all from the Hhohho Region.
Death number 15 was a 67 year old female who presented with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 disease to one of the hospitals in the country. She was admitted as COVID-19 suspect and diagnosed with COVID-19 on the next day. Her clinical condition rapidly deteriorated due to other existing illnesses and died 24 hours of admission.
The 16th COVID-19 related death is a 75 year old male who was a health care worker from the Hhohho Region. He was admitted into one of the country’s private hospitals where he was diagnosed with COVID-19 and initiated on treatment. His condition worsened over a few days and and he became critical and died due to cardiac complications and other pre-existing medical conditions.
Death number 17 was 68 year old male from Hhohho region, who was admitted in one of the country’s hospitals as a suspect COVID-19 case. He also had other known co-morbidities which he was also being treated for, while results later confirmed him as a COVID-19 case. His condition worsened, and he died whilst preparations to transfer him to Lubombo Hospital were being done.
“The Ministry of Health conveys deepest condolences to their families, friends and colleagues. May their souls rest in peace” said Nkosi.
Meanwhile the number of cases has also increased to 1213 as 75 new cases confirmed on Thursday.
The number of recoveries has also increased to 609 as 21 patients were cleared of COVID-19 on this date.
