Health Minister confirms 17 COVID-19 positive cases

Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has announced 17 new confirmed cases and 3 new recoveries.

Nkosi said out of 402 results received by the ministry on Saturday, only 17 came out positive which brings the total number of cases to 745.

On another note, Nkosi announced 3 new recoveries, taking the total of recovered cases to 370. Minister Nkosi said the total number of active cases now stands at 350.

Manzini remains the epicenter of the pandemic in the country as most confirmed cases come from Manzini Region, that is to say a total of 409 cases are from the region. Manzini is followed by the Hhohho region with 178 cases, while 80 are from Lubombo region and lastly but not least Shiselweni has recorded 78 cases.

Nkosi urged senior citizens above 60 years and those with pre-existing illnesses to fully comply to hospital admission arrangements when they have been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.

The Minister encouraged the public to continue adhering to all health precautions given by the ministry of health and World Health Organization. This precautions includes regular washing of hands with running water and soap, practicing social distancing, wearing of masks and staying at home for those who are not going to work or to buy food.

Nkosi thanked all frontline workers who have continued to work diligently in the fight against COVID-19. This includes security forces who have been making sure that all the COVID-19 regulations are being followed in all public places and healthcare workers who are working in all health facilities.
