Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has announced that the death toll has increased to 8 as one more death confirmed on Thursday along with the 16 new cases and 16 new recoveries.
Nkosi said the deceased was a 70 year old male from Manzini Region. He died on June 24 in one of the health facilities while being prepared for evacuation to Lubombo Referral Hospital. He was admitted with severe illness and known pre-existing conditions.
Nkosi went on to announce that out of 223 results, 16 came come out positive which brings the total number infections to 706.
On another note, Nkosi announced 16 new recoveries, taking the total of recovered cases to 347. Minister Nkosi said the total number of active cases now stands at 335.
Manzini remains the epicenter of the pandemic in the country as most confirmed cases come from Manzini Region, that is to say a total of 389 cases are from the region. Manzini is followed by the Hhohho region with 165 cases, while 75 are from Lubombo region and lastly but not least Shiselweni has recorded 77 cases.
Nkosi urged senior citizens above 6p and those with pre-existing illnesses to fully comply to hospital admission arrangements when they have been confirmed to be COVID-19 positive.
