Mbabane: Opening the economy while trying to curb the spread the coronavirus seems to be a mere dream as the number of new cases has increased rapidly such that 102 cases have been confirmed in the past 72 hours.
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi announced 51 new cases on Thursday following 31 and 27 that were recorded on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The newly confirmed indicates to be the highest number to be recorded in the country ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Nkosi said the newly confirmed cases are comprises of 19 cases from Manzini Region and are said to be clusters of Zakhele and Ngwane Park. Shiselweni region has recorded 6 more new cases bringing up the total to 32 cases and they are all scattered around the places not clustering.
Nkosi revealed that 15 of the newly confirmed cases are from Lubombo region and clustering around Mpaka and the total number of cases in the region now stands at 50 cases. Hhohho region has also picked with 11 new cases, clustering around Mkhuzweni area and the total number of cases in the region now stands at 101.
Nkosi revealed that most of the new cases are asymptomatic and some have mild symptoms and their age’s ranges from 12-70 years.
On another note Minister announced two (2) recoveries bringing the total to 238 recoveries.
Earlier on Independent News reported that Minister of Health has expressed expectation of more cases following the fact that the country is gradually opening the economy and that means more people moving around going to work and some to do shopping and more businesses will be opened in the next few days.
