Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has announced a sudden increase of 13 new COVID-19 cases bringing up the total number of cases to 238 with no new recovery hence recovery toll stands at 119.
Nkosi announced on Saturday when giving update on COVID-19 response to the pandemic in the country at the cabinet offices. Nkosi revealed that the ministry received 188 results of which 175 came out negative and 13 positive. Nine (9) of the new cases are from the Shiselweni region which have been recording least numbers since the outbreak of the virus in the Kingdom. The region’s total cases now stands at 16. Manzini remains the leading region with total of 141 cases followed by Hhohho with 53 cases and lastly Lubombo stands with 28 cases.
The results indicate that the new cases age range is from 2-84 years which shows that in Eswatini the cumulative graph is not steady when it comes to the infection as it mixes all age groups from infants to mid aged to senior citizens. Nkosi emphasized that families have a responsibility to take care of the elders should they have suspect case and adhere to self isolation so to protect the elderly at home.
The total number of recoveries stands at 119 as there was no new recovery on this date. The recovery rate stands above 50% which is one of the leading rates in Africa.
Nevertheless, the public is encouraged to continue with the precautionary measures given by the ministry of health and World Health Organization, measures like washing hands regularly with running water and soap. Wearing of masks remains mandatory for everyone.
