Mbabane: The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has risen by nine (9) to stand at 184.
This was announced by theMinister of Health Lizzy Nkosi on Tuesday, through a ministerial statement.
Nkosi said the ministry received 172 results, of which 163 tested negative and nine (9) were positive.
The results indicate that seven of the new cases are from the Manzini region, and the two are from Hhohho and Lubombo regions respectively. This still proves that Manzini remains the epicenter of the pandemic in the country.
Six (6) of the new cases are females and three (3) are males, all of them with ages ranging from 21-59 years of age.
The minister said the new cases are showing an upward trend, adding that such is necessitated by the lab results turn-around time, new findings in contact tracing, screening, swab collection and sample transportation activities at regional and family levels.
Nkosi explained that the recent cases were recorded from all the four regions of the country, with Manzini still recording the highest number of cases. She said one of the factors leading to that was the activities around contact tracing through Rapid Response Teams (RRTs). Manzini and Hhohho have seen an increase in the number of RRTs from two to three.
