Mbabane: World Health Organization (WHO) has come out to clear the air on the origin of the novel coronavirus being from animals not Chinese Lab. This follows speculations by the United States when she wanted to determine whether the virus emanated from a lab in Wuhan in central China.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2020 WHO said all evidence suggest that coronavirus originated in bats in China late last year and it was never constructed in laboratory. WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib said it is not clear how the virus has jumped the species barrier to humans but there had certainly been intermediate animal host.
The world has been wondering where this virus came from as there has been a lot said about the origin of the virus. Countries like the United States of America has been repeatedly blaming China for being the source of the virus as it was firstly discovered in Wuhan, China late last year. US president Donald Truimp has been quoted in a number of scenarios calling the coronavirus ‘Chinese virus’ and last week he said he wants to determine whether the virus was manipulated in Chinese Lab.
The coronavirus has been plaguing the globe since its outbreak last year and reaching most of the world early this year. It has gone up infecting over 2 million people worldwide and claiming hundred thousands of lives around the world. United States has recorded the highest number of cases than any country while Italy recorded highest number of deaths.
In Africa, South Africa is the mostly affected state as it reported highest number of cases and they are increasing as they are over 3000 cases currently with more than 50 deaths.
