COVID-19 cases now 17
Mbabane: Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi has announced the country’s first COVID-19 death and a 17th confirmed case.
“The ministry sadly announces the first death of a COVID-19 patient, a 59 year old man who was admitted to the treatment facility on April 13, 2020,” said Nkosi. The minister explained that the patient was admitted with a moderate to severe illness having been diagnosed with pneumonia and diabetes mellitus on admission. He later on deteriorated and resuscitated but unfortunately died on Thursday, April 15, 2020. He was from Manzini Region with no travel history and his contacts were still investigated.
On another note, the minister announced a 17th confirmed case of a 36 year old male from the Hhohho Region. The patient presented moderate to severe pneumonia at the facility where he was admitted.
The number of recoveries still stands at eight, who were all treated and discharged. Seven cases are still undergoing treatment and the recently confirmed case is going through the admission process today. The ministry of health wishes to emphasize the importance of cooperating with the ministry by following all the COVID-19 regulations and maintain the precautionary measures laid by the ministry and World Health Organization (WHO).
