MBABANE – Karabo Ramanane, the 32-year-old Malagwane man convicted of assaulting his girlfriend began his community service on Friday.

Ramanane was seen as the groundsman for the day at the Mbabane Magistrates Court. He did spade-work in the early hours of the morning. When asked by Independent News what his job description was, he said he was yet to be briefed.

Ramanane had told the Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi that he could not afford to pay the alternative E5000 fine for his sentence and instead requested to do community service.

This was after he admitted to physically assaulting his partner following his conviction for contravening Section 77 (1)(a) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Act of 2018.
