Mbabane – Lady referee Leticia Viana has got a historic two appointments in 2024 from the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).
Viana has got the nod as a referee and a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) official. This was confirmed by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe.
It is not the first time Viana has been appointed as VAR official as he she also officiated in the Women Under-20 World Cup in that capacity last year.
In total, actually FIFA has appointed six Referees, six Assistant Referees, and Viana as a VAR official for the year. These FIFA accredited referees are randomly picked by FIFA or the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for its tournaments including the soon to begin CAF World Cup qualifiers, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup and the regional respective Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) tournaments among others.

for the future,” Radebe said.
