- Taiwan is committed to working with Eswatini in overcoming challenges
- Taiwan and Eswatini established diplomatic relations in 1968
Mbabane – The annual economic and technical cooperation meeting between Taiwan and the Kingdom of Eswatini was recently staged via videoconference, underscoring the shared commitment of the allies to bolstering mutually beneficial business and people-to-people exchanges.
Led by Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua and Eswatini’s Minister of Economic Planning and Development Tambo Gina, the 24th edition of the talks touched on issues spanning core fields like investment, laws and regulations, technical assistance and trade.
In her opening remarks, Wang said “over the past two years, COVID-19 has disrupted global supply chains, logistics and movement of people. This global instability has been compounded by the Russia-Ukraine conflict resulting in rising prices of raw materials.”
She continued to mention that “Taiwan is committed to working with Eswatini in overcoming such challenges, no stone will be left unturned in the support of our African ally’s economic bounce-back.”
In response, Gina thanked Taiwan for cooperating across an array projects delivering real benefits for the people in areas such as information and communication technology and rural water supply.
“Eswatini is grateful, and will continue supporting Taiwan’s participation in international organizations and events”, he said.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan and Eswatini established diplomatic relations in 1968. The countries successfully implement collaborative projects improving education, rural electrification, medical care and women’s empowerment in line with the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
