- Police reportedly fear for their lives
Mbabane – A police officer was allegedly shot at the Malagwane Police Cooling Station when unknown gunmen drove past the police cooling station and opened fire unexpectedly.
Sources suggest that the attack to the police station is politically motivated and was launched by forces who are seeking political reforms in the kingdom. They said, ‘’members of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces (SISF) invaded Malagwane Police Post and fired a hail of bullets.”
Information reaching the Independent News is that at least one police officer was injured during the attack.
It is reported that now police officers fear for their lives. Social media platforms have been abuzz since the attack this morning. Some traces of blood stains are shown in video clips shot at the police cooling station following the attack.
Details of the shooting and attack to the police at the cooling station were scanty by the time the report was compiled. No official police statement regarding the incident has been issued out by the police so far.
Meanwhile, the political unrest in the country has perpetuated attacks from all the political spectrums where the people seeking political reforms attacked law enforcers and law enforcers displaying brutality towards protestors.
The country’s authorities have been promising the nation that a political dialogue will be held where all stakeholders will be involved to deliberate on issues affecting the country which have resulted in conflict and a disturbance of peace.
While authorities have promised that Sibaya will be convened for the national dialogue, political formations have openly rejected Sibaya as a platform for the national dialogue, instead insisting on a neutral venue for this engagement.
