Royal Leopards is the second team in the history of the country to reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, they follow Mbabane Swallows who reached the group stages in 2017/2018.

Mbabane-Eswatini’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) representatives Royal Leopards will have enough time to prepare for their group stages matches. CAF have postponed Leopard’s game against Al-Alhi of Tripoli in Libiya to March 6, 2022. The match was supposed to be played on Sunday February 13, 2022 at home.

The police ensemble is now in Group B of the four-group competition which consist of Orlando Pirates of South Africa, Al Ahli Tripoli of, and JS Sooura of Algeria. The country CAF representatives were supposed to play their first game on Sunday but the game has been postponed by the CAF. The Royal Leopards game is not the first one to be postponed by the CAF Organising Committee for the Interclub Competition as this has been done to the Champions League Group A Fixture pitting Al Ahly of Egypt against AI Merrikh of Sudan.

Royal Leopards is the second team in the history of the country to reached the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, they follow Mbabane Swallows who reached the group stages in 2017/2018. The police side are now guaranteed to pocket about E4.1 million for reaching the group stages and if they reach the quarterfinals, they stand a chance to earn about E 5.3 million.

Leopards PRO, Frank Hurube said “I am aware that our first game of the group stages has been postponed to another date, but it is not formal we are still waiting for the correspondence from CAF. The postponement will help us to have time for preparation and also have time to finish our fixture here at home since we are two games behind the other teams.’’
