Big Bend: Nkilongo Member of Parliament Timothy Myeni, and his younger brother Mzwakhe have denounced the Tinkhundla System of Government before dozens of protesting residents yesterday at Nkilongo Inkhundla.

The Nkilongo residents were joined by members of political parties from the Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland (EFF) and the Swaziland Democratic Party (SWADEPA).

MP Myeni and his younger brother Mzwakhe Myeni who are both gospel artists, surprised many when they declared their support for multiparty democracy including the electing of a prime minister by the Emaswati masses.

“Tinkhundla system is like an old car that cannot be fixed that needs new tyres and a new engine to move,” MP Myeni allegedly told residents who had come to deliver a petition to him.

Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland Secretary-General (SG) Ncamiso Ngcamphalala said Mzwakhe Myeni highlighted the issue of the water crisis caused by the Royal family.

The EFF SG said: “The Myeni brothers showed their great support for the struggling masses of Eswatini,”

Mzwakhe Myeni spoke bravely and criticized the Royal family, saying a water project was hijacked by royalty to sustain a sugar cane project belonging to them instead of helping the needy people to get water to drink.

Ngcamphalala added that MP Myeni statement was true but he is not a well-trusted man after the submissions he made in Parliament supporting Tinkhundla and then changing his tune within 24 hours.

On another note Ngcamphalala said the country really needs democracy because the current system is only benefiting the royal family, not the nation at large, he stated that they will start visiting the High Commissions and embassies to seek help for Democracy.

Mbongeni Mnisi, the Swaziland Democratic Party (SWADEPA) Regional Secretary said changing MPs won’t help the Tinkhundla system because it is not functional at all so it needs to be changed for a better tomorrow, adding that the future of this country is in the hands of all emaSwati.
