Mbabane: The recently released COVID-19 music single is making waves in local and South African radio stations.
Swati Gqom M-Nation released the song in March and it is already making waves and receiving much recognition.
M-Nation’s Real name is Wandile Ndlovu. Speaking to Independent News, Ndlovu said, he released the song to raise awareness and to send a message of hope to those who may be infected or affected by the novel Coronavirus which is threatening the whole world.
Some of the lines of the song say: “Different nations with one dream, so I cannot sit down watch this Coronavirus take over, come hold my hand, together let’s fight and make sure this battle is over.” According to Ndlovu, the song encourages people to embrace and be aware of COVID-19 and also take care of each other during this time. Ndlovu said the song is available on digital platform “Zippyshare” for downloading.
Elaborating on the response the song has got, Ndlovu said it was awesome and people like the song. The Pigg’s Peak born Gqom artist has become the first Liswati to record and release a Coronavirus song in the country. According to Ndlovu the song is currently played in the local radio stations and also in some radio stations in South Africa.
Artists have a huge following and so it is key for them to take leading roles in raising awareness on the novel Coronavirus pandemic that is threatening the whole world. The Coronavirus has affected a lot of the income streams for most artists and Ndlovu has advised artists to utilize digital platforms as well as social media to survive and promote their craft during this time of the corona virus.
Coronavirus cases reported to date are over 700 000 with deaths exceeding 34 000.
