- The recently elected executive will be in office for the next three years
Mbabane: The newly elected Swaziland Association of Music Artists (SWAMA) executive says it will reveal its strategic plan soon and thereafter work towards its implementation.
This was revealed by SWAMA President Lutfo Dlamini while making his remarks shortly after re-election to the position of president.
The recently elected executive will be in office for the next three years.
Dlamini who is also a Member of Parliament for Ndzingeni highlighted that they are working on plans to market the Eswatini arts industry to the world stages, adding that globalization calls for the arts sector to also tap into international markets. The president said SWAMA was working very hard to get global strategic partners to support artists I terms of resources.
Elections
The elections of the new executive were held on May 8, 2021 at the Eswatini Football Association Technical Centre.
Beating five contestants during the elections, Lutfo Dlamini who is the incumbent president retained his position. Vice president Lindelwa Mafa also retained her position and Tiyas Maziya also won unopposed as Secretary General.
Former Public Relations Officer DJ Tizalami was elected to a new position of Vice Secretary General while Zoe Genesis Monde joined the association as the new Public Relations Officer.
Nqobile Simelane also retained her position as a Treasurer while additional members were Gino Kash, Musenge, RJ Chikopa, and Siyabonga ‘The Silent Writer’ Dlamini.
Association
SWAMA is the largest national association of musicians and it is an affiliate of the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC).
SWAMA also has its yearly music awards which are supported by MTN and known as the MTN SWAMA Music Awards, which is a concept created to celebrate and recognize musicians who have contributed to the growth of the music industry in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
