Hospitality industry honors Lizzie, health care workers

Mbabane: The Hospitality and Tourism Association of Eswatini (HOTEAS) in partnership with Eswatini Tourism Authority has honored the Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi and health care workers of the Lubombo Referral Hospital for being in the fore front in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

The honor was done during the launch of the Domestic Tourism Easter Campaign held at the Royal Villas.

As a token of appreciation, health workers in the Lubombo Referral Hospital were awarded with hampers while the Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation for playing a leading role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gifts were handed over by the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Tourism John Hlophe who was representing the Minister of Tourism.

Apart from the hampers a ruffle draw was also conducted on 160 names of health care workers stations at Lubombo Referral Hospital of which three of them won themselves one night stay for two at Mountain Inn, Royal Villas and Hilton Garden Hotel.

During the draw Hlengiwe Matsebula was drawn and she won herself win one night stay for two people at mountain in hotel, Mongi Dlamini won one night stay for two people at Royal Vilas and Dr. John won a night for two at Hilton gardens.

Hlophe thanked the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Eswatini (HOEAS), Ministry of Tourism and Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) who saw it fit that during this period they collectively show appreciation of the incredible efforts made by the health frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said it was through their relentless efforts that to date the number of recoveries is high compared to fatalities.

Hlophe also thanked the minister of health who has fearlessly led the whole health system in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic. He said as the tourism industry they hope that the tokens of appreciation will uplift and motivate them to continue to solder on in the fight against Covid-19.

Making her remarks after receiving here certificate the minister of health Lizzie Nkosi said she was much honored to receive recognition from the industry despite being hugely affected by the pandemic.

She thanked the industry for taking time recognizing local frontline health care workers and giving them tokens of appreciation for the work and the dedication they have demonstrated in fighting the pandemic.

He said the staff has been dedicated and worked very hard to ensure they save lives even when the pandemic was hitting hard. He said they took the gifts on behalf of all the frontline workers who were station across the country. He said the decrease in number of infections and deaths was a collective effort of the entire health care system and health care workers.
