Mbabane: Manzini Sundowns boss Mark Carmichael is the new Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) chairman.
Carmichael, won over Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula who was the incumbent acting chairman and was also contesting for the same position.
Carmichael won by 15 votes as Sicelo Mkhonta withdrew on the eleventh hour of the elections which was held at the Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini during the PLE Annual General Meeting.
Seemingly Magagula did not welcome his defeat, after the announcing of results of the elections, Magagula who got 11 votes walked out dejected even before the meeting was over.
Carmichael will take the reigns as PLE chairman and will lead the organization for the next four years. He is not new in the position, as he served as acting chairman after the passing away of the Victor Gamedze and resigned shortly after about three months and was replaced by Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula who lost the elections.
Executive
The new executive members are Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe of Vovovo FC, Victor Rodriguez of Malanti Chiefs and the vocal Charles Matsebula of Piggs Peak Black Swallows.
The only member who managed to retain his executive member sit was Rudolf Matsenjwa of Tambuti FC.
Meanwhile Madlenya FC boss Juluka Gamedze and former executive member Sicelo Mkhonta could not make it as they were tied on 11 vote each.
