MBABANE — Savannah Maziya, the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), has urged local journalists to embrace emerging technologies and uphold ethical journalism as they adapt to the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital media landscape.
Speaking at an engagement with the Eswatini National Association of Journalists (ENAJ) and media houses today, Maziya emphasized the importance of utilizing digital tools to elevate Eswatini’s stories to a global stage. She also encouraged journalists to participate in international journalism competitions, which could showcase the country’s talent and raise its media profile.
Addressing the current issues surrounding public service disruptions, the Minister pointed out that these problems were linked to instability within the Government Mainframe. This system, which supports several GIYH App services, is currently being stabilised to prevent further service interruptions.
Maziya further stressed the media’s role in delivering accurate, balanced, and professional content, urging journalists to move away from sensationalism and focus on presenting a fair and positive national narrative.
The Minister also reassured the media community of her Ministry’s commitment to supporting the sector, highlighting the importance of ongoing training, strengthening partnerships, and promoting open dialogue to foster growth and innovation.
