Matsapha – MTN Eswatini has introduced a new communication solution aimed at improving coordination and response efficiency for businesses and field teams across the country. The Push to Talk over Cellular service was launched earlier today at Summerfields Botanical Gardens during MTN’s End of Year Business Luncheon, an annual gathering attended by corporate clients, partners and sector leaders.
The platform, branded locally as Bo Ova, enables instant one to one and group voice calls, text messaging, video sharing, data exchange and real time location tracking. Unlike traditional two way radio systems, it operates through MTN’s national cellular network, removing the need for businesses to purchase private radio towers, apply for spectrum or maintain communication infrastructure. MTN noted that this significantly lowers operational costs for companies that rely on fast and reliable internal communication.
Wandile Dlamini, Executive Head of the MTN Business Enterprise Unit, told guests that the service was developed in response to demands from sectors that rely on rapid decision making in the field. He said the platform is supported by MTN’s ninety six percent network coverage, allowing teams to stay connected wherever an MTN signal is available. Dlamini added that the system has been tested across different terrains and is suitable for industries that operate in both urban and remote areas.
MTN explained that the encrypted service is designed for emergency medical services, logistics and transport operators, construction companies, private security firms, mining operations, retail chains and the country’s armed forces. Practical applications include connecting paramedics with hospital staff instantly, issuing urgent safety alerts on construction sites, coordinating truck movements during road congestion, supporting large fleet operations and strengthening communication for security patrols.
The company said the launch forms part of MTN’s broader strategy to evolve into a full digital and Internet of Things service provider in Eswatini. The operator added that it will continue rolling out enterprise solutions that improve efficiency, safety and productivity for local businesses.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Jerry Soko addressed the luncheon and said MTN remains committed to investing in technologies that support the country’s economic growth. He noted that customer trust has been central to MTN’s progress this year and assured partners that the company will keep expanding its digital offerings for both public and private sector clients.
