Lusaka – Local comedian Mduduzi ‘Mdura’ Dlamini captivated audiences with his performance at the Zed Laugh Festival in Lusaka, Zambia, on Friday. The event, held at M’kango Golf View, featured an array of Africa’s top comedic talents, drawing a lively crowd eager for an evening of laughter.
Mdura took to the stage alongside renowned acts from Uganda, South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, and Zambia, contributing to the festival’s vibrant, diverse atmosphere. The show boasted performances from Chingliz, Ba Emma, Smoke, Juss, Rhema, Bob Nkosha, Thenjiwe, Thapelo, and Napoleon, each offering a unique brand of comedy.
Reflecting on the experience, Mdura described the atmosphere as electric. “It was an incredible show; we had an amazing comedy audience, perfect weather, and all the comedians brought their A-game,” he shared. His performance, which came after such seasoned comedians, was a challenge he rose to with enthusiasm, thanks to the high-energy crowd.

The Zed Laugh Festival marked Mdura’s second appearance at the event, an opportunity he sees as crucial for his career. The festival, which is filmed for Zambezi Magic, provides exposure across Southern Africa and strengthens his regional presence. “For me, it is growth not only as a brand but as a comedian. This kind of exposure opens a whole different world of experiences and opportunities,” Mdura said.
The comedian is already seeing the fruits of his performance, with new opportunities including an international television project and upcoming collaborations in Zambia. He credited South African comedian Thenjiwe for facilitating his participation and thanked the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, along with Mzansi Gold Economy, for their support.
Mdura is now preparing for an upcoming comedy event in Mbabane on December 13, featuring a stellar line-up from Eswatini and South Africa (KZN). Tickets are available for E120. For more details, contact +268 7606 3531 or visit m.mojaticket.com.
