Malkerns – The Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative (TAVI), in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office of Eswatini, recently hosted an event for elderly community members from the Hhohho Region at the Marlkerns Research Station. The initiative aimed to promote the health benefits of traditional African vegetables by offering a nutritious meal made from locally grown produce.
During the event, healthcare workers provided attendees with information about the health and nutritional advantages of incorporating these vegetables into daily diets. The Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Thulisile Dladla, also addressed the crowd, encouraging them to adopt healthier eating habits in order to prevent illness and improve longevity.
Many elderly participants shared their familiarity with the vegetables and credited them for maintaining good health well into their later years. Several pledged to continue eating these vegetables and grow them in their backyard gardens, ensuring their presence in their diets for years to come.
