MBABANE – An 18-year-old from Mangwaneni has been ordered to complete seven days of community service after admitting to stealing socks valued at E200 from Pep Stores in Mbabane.
Mlungisi Mavuso appeared before Magistrate Chazile Thwala on Thursday, facing a charge of theft. Court records show the incident occurred on October 29, 2025.
During mitigation, Mavuso explained that he took the socks intending to sell them, citing unemployment as a reason for his actions. He also revealed that he dropped out of Piggs Peak Central High while in Form 2 due to financial difficulties and promised not to repeat the offence.
Magistrate Thwala considered Mavuso’s age and personal circumstances and opted for a non-custodial sentence. The teen is required to clean the area outside the court premises for seven consecutive days from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
