Mbabane- The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade is mourning the passing of Russell Nxumalo, Commissioner of Cooperative Development, a key figure in advancing eSwatini’s cooperative sector. Nxumalo, who previously served as the National Civil Registrar, was central to initiatives including the push for the country’s first cooperative bank.
Tributes have poured in from friends, colleagues, and community members across social media. Mandla Nxumalo, Managing Director of Instacash, wrote: “Rest Mnguni. Wena wendlovu.”
Linda Prince Malindzisa remembered his support in local business ventures, saying: “Noooooooooooh. A good friend. A good brother. I don’t know how many trips he did to Matsapha shop and he was pushing for me to launch our shop.”
Other reflections underscored his influence and character. Sphiwe Vilakati said: “This is truly one of those shocking reminders how fleeting life is… Ngatsi utotsi uyadlala Mnguni. Akaphumule waMnguni.” Nxumalo Zwelie-lizwe expressed disbelief: “No ways mani…hawu! Jehoshaphat!!”
Dima Katso commented on his impact, calling him “a man who had so much to give to this country. A brilliant mind who consciously did right. Such a beautiful soul. Ncesini boMnguni.” Thamie Pastor Bae Ndlovu and Jabu Fakudze also joined the chorus of sorrow, paying respects to a visionary leader gone too soon.
