Mbabane – Mbabane Swallows Football Club has issued a statement addressing what it calls a misleading report published on an online media platform regarding Consulate Kareem Ashraff and his financial involvement with the team.
Club president Absalom Mvana Ngwenya said the management wanted to clarify that Ashraff has been supporting Mbabane Swallows since the late 1980s as a dedicated member of the Swallows community. He noted that the recent reports suggesting Ashraff financed the club to improve his personal image were false and damaging to both Ashraff and the club.
The statement explained that Swallows management approached Ashraff to assist with financing some of the team’s operations, including the payment of players’ and technical staff salaries, and he agreed, as he has done consistently in the past. The club stressed that this support has never been done in secret and that Ashraff has met openly with players and officials in public settings.
Ngwenya said the claims misrepresent the true nature of Ashraff’s involvement, which has always been based on loyalty and commitment to the club, rather than personal publicity or recognition. The statement reiterated that Ashraff’s support is part of his long-term relationship with the team, a role he has fulfilled since his early involvement with Mbabane Swallows.
The management appealed to media outlets and the public to accurately report on the matter and to recognise Ashraff’s contributions as genuine support for the club rather than a means of seeking public favour.
