Lobamba – Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Shiselweni region have accused Regional Secretary (RS) Bheki Thwala of mistreating them during official events, prompting calls for the Ministry of Tinkhundla Administration and Development to intervene.
The MPs raised the issue during the ministry’s second quarter performance debate before the portfolio committee on Wednesday. They alleged that Thwala and other regional officials often deny them access or treat them unfairly at public functions.
One MP said that at a past event, MPs were left outside and had to push their way in because Thwala reportedly refused to allow them entry.
“The MPs stated that when there are events in Shiselweni, the RS does not treat them well,” MP Dlamini said.
He added that similar complaints have been reported several times, particularly during major functions such as graduations in Nhlangano, where MPs claimed they were ill-treated. Dlamini urged the ministry to address the matter urgently, suggesting that regional officers be taught how to conduct themselves around people.
Responding to the concerns, Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development S’khumbuzo Dlamini apologized on behalf of his officers. He assured MPs that the ministry would investigate the allegations and take appropriate action to resolve the issue.
