Maseru – His Majesty King Letsie III launched the Queen’s Baton Relay at the Royal Palace in Maseru on Thursday, 2 October 2025, officially marking the countdown to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The ceremony began with the British High Commissioner to Lesotho, Her Excellency Martine Sobey, presenting the Baton to His Majesty. The King then handed it to the Vice President of the Lesotho Commonwealth Games Association, who passed it on to Lesotho’s celebrated Commonwealth gold medalist, Thabiso Moqhali. The symbolic exchange reflected the spirit of unity and sporting excellence at the heart of the Games.
The occasion was attended by senior officials, including the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Mantiti Khabo, and the Director of Sports, Mr. Thabo Tsiki, alongside invited guests and dignitaries.
