MBABANE – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo officially opened the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) House at Selection Park, Mbabane, on Thursday, marking a new phase for Eswatini’s cooperative sector.
The facility, which also hosts the Cooperative Digitalization Center, will provide cooperatives with access to digital tools, training, and shared resources. Khumalo said the initiative opens new opportunities for innovation and growth in the sector.

Through the SUCOSA II Project, DGRV will invest over E30 million between 2025 and 2027 to develop a strategy for a Cooperative Central Bank, modernize Eswatini’s cooperative legal framework, strengthen leadership at grassroots and national levels, and accelerate digital transformation.
Veit Gesenhues, DGRV’s Regional Program Director for Southern Africa, described the launch as a celebration of the enduring partnership between DGRV and Eswatini and a renewed commitment to the cooperative movement.
During the event, Minister Khumalo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DGRV to enhance cooperation and collaboration. DGRV also donated a VW Polo to the Eswatini Association of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (ESASCCO) to support its operations.
