Johannesburg – Renowned South African journalist and broadcaster Tshidi Madia has died at 42 following a short illness, her family confirmed on Wednesday.
Madia, who served as associate editor for politics at Eyewitness News, was celebrated for her fearless reporting, mentorship, and commitment to telling South Africa’s stories. “She brought joy and love to all who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends,” family spokesperson Mahlatse Mahlase said. Funeral arrangements will be shared in due course.
EWN Editor-in-Chief Nisa Allie described Madia as a powerhouse and a consummate professional who led by example, mentoring many young political journalists and consistently delivering exclusive reports with humility.
Madia was known for her objective reporting, in-depth interviews, and impartiality, earning respect across the nation’s political journalism sphere. She recently covered President Cyril Ramaphosa’s meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Washington, where she challenged false claims of targeted violence against white South Africans during a News Nation interview.
