MBABANE – Persons with disabilities across the country are set to benefit from a donation of assistive devices worth close to E1 million, handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
The donation, made through Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) by South Korea-based Shalom Disability Ministries, includes wheelchairs, crutches, walking canes for the visually impaired, and other mobility aids. The handover took place yesterday at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in Mbabane.
The items were formally presented by CEF representatives Jee Kim and Juhne Nam on behalf of Shalom Disability Ministries. The non-profit was established in 1989 by Reverend Moses Park and his wife following a family tragedy. The couple lost their two daughters in a car accident that also left Mrs. Park paralysed. Since then, the Parks have committed their lives to supporting people with disabilities globally.
Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla received the donation on behalf of government and described it as a meaningful contribution to the lives of vulnerable groups in Eswatini. She acknowledged the Park family’s personal sacrifice and extended gratitude for their decision to channel their grief into global compassion.
Dladla also recognised the role played by the Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Swaziland (FODSWA) in building the partnership with CEF that made the donation possible.
