MBABANE – Anticipation is building across the country as teams fine-tune their squads and management structures ahead of the 2025/26 MTN Premier League season, with major clubs taking bold steps to reposition themselves for domestic and continental dominance.
Mbabane Highlanders AM have drawn early attention after naming South African businesswoman and football personality Shawn “Mamkhize” Mkhize as their new director. Mkhize, who is no stranger to the football scene, wasted no time — taking the squad to an intensive month-long training camp in Pietermaritzburg. She has also roped in a seasoned South African football official as part of her backroom staff, with promises to restore Highlanders to their former glory.
Meanwhile, defending champions Nsingizini Hotspurs are preparing for life on multiple fronts. The club signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mozambique’s Black Bulls, targeting technical collaboration. To lead their campaign, they appointed Mandla Qhogi — previously a coach in South Africa’s Motsepe Foundation Championship. Nsingizini have already been in action in friendlies against continental heavyweights, including Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaTuks, Sekhukhune United and the Black Bulls.
Moneni Pirates, fresh from their Ingwenyama Cup final appearance, have announced former Malawi national team coach Meck Mwase as head coach, with Charles Manda as his assistant. The team is banking on businessman Thulani Xaba’s leadership to push for silverware this season.
Mbabane Swallows have also entered a new chapter, welcoming a Mozambique-born businessman currently based in Brazil as the new club director. He has committed an estimated E3 million investment per season, raising fans’ expectations around signings and the club’s ambitions.
