New York – Astronomer Chief Executive Officer Andy Byron is facing intense public scrutiny after a video showing him embracing his Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, went viral following a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston.
The incident took place during a live performance when Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, pointed out the pair on the stadium’s jumbotron, joking to the crowd, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.” The video shows Byron holding Cabot from behind while the two smile at the camera before quickly turning away.
Byron, who has been married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, resides near the stadium with his wife and their two sons. The identity of the woman in the clip was confirmed through online searches, with social media users linking her to Cabot, who joined Astronomer in November 2024. Her marital status remains unclear.
Soon after the video surfaced, Megan Byron’s Facebook page was deleted, and before its removal, she was seen removing her husband’s surname from her profile. Meanwhile, Byron’s LinkedIn account was also deactivated.
Astronomer, a billion-dollar data infrastructure firm with headquarters in New York, has disabled comments on its social media platforms and has not issued an official statement addressing the situation. The company last secured $93 million in Series D funding from Bain Capital Ventures and Salesforce Ventures.
Byron released a personal statement acknowledging the incident, apologising to his family and colleagues. He described the moment as a private mistake that played out in public and said he would be stepping back to reflect on his actions.
Cabot’s previous roles include positions at ObserveIT, Neo4j, and Proofpoint. Public records indicate she has been married before, but further details remain unconfirmed.
The incident has generated over 20 million views on TikTok and triggered widespread debate online, with many questioning Byron’s conduct as a corporate leader.
