MALKERNS – A donation of E148,490 was presented to World Vision Eswatini on Friday evening, 4th July 2025, during the official launch of the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festival at Malandela’s in Malkerns.
The contribution forms part of the festival’s corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at supporting a small-scale beekeeping project under World Vision Eswatini’s Lobamba Lomdzala Area Programme. Nearly 200 guests attended the glittering launch event, which celebrated African heritage, food, fashion and sustainable development.
The beekeeping initiative is a collaborative effort between World Vision Eswatini, Emlembe Beverages and local farming families in the Lobamba Lomdzala constituency. Its goal is to empower residents—particularly small-scale farmers—to enter the honey production industry with the necessary skills, resources, and market access.
World Vision Eswatini Vice Chairperson of the Board, Sharon Maziya, accepted the donation on behalf of the organisation and commended the festival for recognising World Vision as a development partner. She said the funds would directly contribute to efforts that improve the livelihoods of vulnerable households through income-generating projects.
Maziya also acknowledged the role played by local farmers who have allowed beekeepers access to natural flora on their land, enabling the production of high-quality honey. She explained that the partnership with Emlembe will assist farmers in accessing stable markets for their products, supporting the long-term sustainability of the initiative.
Guests were encouraged to attend the Luju Festival in large numbers, as every ticket purchased contributes to projects like this one, linking entertainment with meaningful impact across communities in Eswatini.
