MBABANE – The government has raised concern over a string of child abductions and killings across the country, urging communities to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement in capturing those responsible.
Acting Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla issued a statement on Sunday, thanking His Majesty King Mswati III for calling attention to the disturbing trend, which has left families grieving and communities shaken.
Authorities confirmed that one suspect linked to a recent child murder in the Shiselweni region is now believed to be in Manzini. Residents have been urged to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the police.
Efforts to safeguard children have been gaining momentum at grassroots level. Across various communities, parents and volunteers have begun escorting schoolchildren to and from school. Government officials say they support these efforts and encourage more citizens to get involved in securing a safe environment for children.
Police investigations are ongoing, with officers pursuing leads and asking the public for assistance. However, the government has also warned against spreading false accusations that could derail investigations or cause further harm.
The killings, described by officials as senseless, have sparked widespread fear and outrage. Communities are being called upon to share credible information that could lead to arrests, as the nation seeks to prevent further tragedies.
