MBABANE – Five new Dell laptops and a server rack have been handed over to Junior Achievement (JA) Eswatini by the World Bank’s Resident Representative Ikechi Okorie and his team during a courtesy visit to the non-profit organisation’s headquarters.
The donation is intended to support the organisation’s youth empowerment initiatives across the country, ranging from entrepreneurship to financial literacy and career development. The equipment will be used in JA Eswatini’s incubation centres and outreach programmes, including a planned expansion at the Mpaka Vocational Centre.
The visit by the World Bank team, which included Operations Manager Wakhile Mkhonza, allowed them to engage with JA Eswatini staff and board members on the non-profit’s current activities. JA Eswatini’s Executive Director Phetsile Masilela outlined the organisation’s projects, such as the Financial Literacy Program, the JA Company Program, Job Shadow Program, and the Out-of-School Youth Program.
“These laptops are going to enhance our ability to reach more young people, especially in rural areas where access to such resources is limited,” Masilela said during the handover.
Board member Nomsa Magagula welcomed the donation and called for deeper partnerships between the World Bank and JA Eswatini. “Support like this means a lot for our young people who need exposure to digital tools and entrepreneurship,” she said.
Okorie noted that JA Eswatini plays a key role in the World Bank’s broader mission in Eswatini. “We work closely with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, and organisations like JA help us implement impactful youth-focused programs,” he said.
