ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar – April 29, 2025 – A delegation from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat has arrived in Madagascar to assess the country’s preparedness to host the upcoming SADC Heads of State and Government Summit set for August 2025.
The team, led by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Ms. Bodo Tantel Radaody Ralarosy, began the preparatory mission on April 27. The visit serves to support Madagascar as it prepares to take over the SADC chairmanship and host one of the region’s most important diplomatic gatherings.
Key priorities of the mission include briefing Madagascar’s technical teams on summit requirements, inspecting facilities such as potential venues, hotels, and airports, and engaging with local service providers and financial institutions to explain the procurement and financial protocols required for SADC events.

The delegation has already held several strategic meetings, including a courtesy call with Mr. Eric Ratsimbazafy, Secretary General at Madagascar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He welcomed the team and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to meeting SADC standards. He also pointed to Madagascar’s recent successful hosting of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) meeting as a valuable benchmark.
Further discussions were held with the technical team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired by Ms. Ralarosy and Ms. Elisa Harifera Rabemananjara, Director General at the Ministry.
