The Ingwenyama Cup final will be broadcast live on SuperSport from Somhlolo National Stadium this Sunday, giving millions of football fans across Africa a front-row seat to Eswatini’s premier tournament.
The highly anticipated showdown will see Royal Leopard take on Moneni Pirates in a match that blends top-tier football with the nation’s rich cultural traditions. Adding to the spectacle, Nsingizini Ladies and Young Buffaloes will face off in the Ingwenyama Women Knockout final.
The Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF), the tournament’s main sponsor, has been in negotiations with SuperSport to secure the broadcast rights. According to sources, the deal is nearly finalized, with a final meeting scheduled for this afternoon. If completed, Eswatini TV will also air the match using SuperSport’s feed.
With SuperSport’s reach extending to 49 African nations, the broadcast is expected to boost the tournament’s profile beyond Eswatini’s borders. “This is a big win for local football,” a source said. “The Eswatini Football Association and Premier League of Eswatini will gain massive exposure.”
Last year’s final, featuring Mbabane Swallows and Green Mamba, was broadcast on SuperSport and drew over 10,000 spectators. The tournament’s Public Relations Officer, Nkosilenhle Masuku, emphasized SuperSport’s role in the competition’s growth, calling for continued collaboration.
The tournament was relaunched in November 2024 with a record E15 million sponsorship from SMVAF, marking an increase from previous funding cycles. This year’s champions will take home E1.45 million.
