Mbabane – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo has invited Eswatini businesses to a business seminar in Japan.
Speaking at the local launch of the 2025 World Expo to be held in Japan, the fourth word largest economy, Khumalo said that the Asian country invites Eswatini and other 169 countries to their internationally aclaimed trade fair.
The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA), the expo’s liaison agency stated that the business seminar falls within the specific activities Eswatini is extended to conduct in Japan, along with the Eswatini national day to be held on June 3.
The Minister referred to these activities as ‘doing business with Japan and Asia.”’
“On the 2nd of June 2025, Eswatini will host a doing business seminar to promote business opportunities in ICT, trade, investment, and tourism. We therefore urge our business community to diarize these dates and make an effort to join the Eswatini delegation that will attend national day,” Khumalo said.
Eswatini and Japan have done business for close to 50 years, it was said.
Eswatini sold over E44 million wood chips, citrus fruits, and crafts products to Japan, the minister said.
He also said the business community has the opportunity to ‘diversify this growing and stable market with over 125 million population.’
Minister Khumalo said the business seminar will offer an opportunity to further unlock more market opportunities and increase Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) from Asia.
The EIPA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sibani Mngomezulu said the Eswatini pavilion will be showcasing its business, tourism, culture, and an investment landscape in Japan.
“We encourage the business community and all those with interest to monitor activity at the expo. We also encourage those who are able to, to attend the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and see what Eswatini has in store for guests to the stand,” he said.
The Japan expo will take place at Osaka from April 13 to October 13.
