Over 600 residents of Nkhaba Inkhundla gathered for a weekend of health and nutrition awareness, as the Taiwan Africa Vegetable Initiative – Eswatini teamed up with the Taiwan Medical Mission for a community outreach event on Saturday.
The initiative provided essential nutrition education, encouraging locals to cultivate traditional African vegetables. To support this, attendees received vegetable seeds to start backyard gardens, promoting access to healthier meals at home.
Nkhaba Inkhundla Member of Parliament, Hon. Hope Shiba, expressed gratitude to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the initiative, describing it as life-changing. He pledged to motivate households in his constituency to establish backyard gardens as a means of sustaining nutritious diets.
Health Minister Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula, who was also in attendance, spoke on the benefits of a vegetable-rich diet, particularly traditional African greens, which are known for their high nutritional value.
